Jonathan Vincent is a composer, sound designer, producer and arranger for television, film and media.
‘People often ask me “What type of music do you write?” I find this difficult to answer because I love writing music in many styles. All genres of music feel equally valid to me and I just really enjoy the process of composing.’
Jonathan relishes writing music to picture but also write prolifically for several highly respected production music libraries with placements worldwide including Brooklyn 99, Top Gear, The One Show, Countryfile, Antiques Roadshow. He contributes to several songwriting teams as both a writer and producer. He also likes to work with sound design and general audio services, often offering directors a package of music and sound production. As an arranger, Jonathan has worked with artists such as Amber Run, Saint Raymond, Natalie Duncan and Harleighblu.
This eclecticism has been a feature of Jonathan’s composing career because of his varied musical background and education. He has been composing, producing, arranging and performing music since 1985. He attended Goldsmiths’ College where he gained a BMus in music with Orchestral Percussion and Piano as his main instrumental study. He also took the electronic music module option, gaining experience in operation of the renowned “Electronic Music Studio”. After university Jonathan teamed up with Newtronic MIDI Songware and created many MIDI file-based products including the first MIDI construction kits which were highly regarded and were the forerunner of construction kit software such as Ejay, Acid and Ableton.
Jonathan’s career has also been very eclectic. As well as being a composer, he has also worked as a percussion teacher, college and university lecturer, senior A-Level examiner and conductor. He is also an accomplished, classical trained musician, playing keyboards and percussion/drums in musical groups from Jazz quartets and function bands to Symphony orchestras in all locations from pubs and international venues to the Albert Hall. This has given him a varied diet of music and styles of all types. Jonathan’s studio facility is located in Kent.
