I was so pleased to score the another season of Boo Snoo along with fellow composer Sandy Nuttgens, now showing on Sky Kids. Stay tuned for a “making of” video for the “Balloons” episode. To get you in the mood for season 2, here is an episode from the first season.
Since 2021 I’ve been contributing music to the Cardiff Bute Park light trail. This year producers “From the Fields” have expanded to put on another trail in Newcastle. I was very happy to write the music for the Newcastle trail including the finale piece “Aurora Rising”. I also wrote music for the Bute Park trail again. I made it to Cardiff to take some walkthrough videos but I unfortunately couldn’t make the Newcastle trail so I’ve put on the finale music from Newcastle onto this video. The best of both worlds!
In September this year I managed to release my first EP of original music for over 20 years under the pseudonym of “Green Box Bear” I was always writing music for other people so when an idea from the FB group “The Music Room” came up to release an EP by December the 1st I jumped on board and started writing what turned out to be a mini prog concept album about being a dad. I was delighted to undertake music composition and sound design duties for Icon Theatre’s recent show “The Ballad of St John’s Car Park”.
The Ballad of St John’s Car Park celebrated the positive power of community activism in Medway, from the protested closure of Chatham’s Dockyard in 1984 to the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. This important immersive and site-specific theatre production brought a professional creative team, a community ensemble of over 200 people and Icon’s award-winning young people’s programme Theatre31 into collaboration.
The script was devised and written with David King-Yombo, Tabby Lamb, Harveen Mann ARAM and PK Taylor.

I was very happy to have created, recorded and produced a new album for RSM. We managed to get several socially-distanced players together for a busy day at Rimshot Studios and below is a little video of the one of the tracks. Huge thanks are due to musicians Thomas Kemp, Lucia D’Avanzo-Lewis, Alice Cooper, Rob Yoemans, Matthew Sweet & Mike Austin. Also thanks to Mike Thorne and Josh Holland at Rimshot. The album should be out within the next month.
What a bizarre, strange and worrying time it’s been in the last few months for so many people! One way that schools and education establishments have ensured that there was some musical connection with separated students during lockdown was to produce virtual performances. I was very grateful to be asked to do several of these for a number establishments. Below is one of them for Kent Music as the finale of their Day and Night virtual festival. It’s a version of the late, great Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day” and featured 80 students and teaching of all ages. Please take a look and share if you can.
I was very happy to be asked to provide the piano part for Scouting for Girls’ Christmas single, “Let’s Not Go Away”. Accompanying the song’s release is an amazing animation by the incredible Blue Zoo.
Jonathan arranged the strings and played piano for the Hetty Feather Christmas Musical Special. He recorded live strings at Rimshot studios. Music composed by Sandy Nuttgens
